A long, interesting drive …… lots of construction delays.
We just had to stop in Coombs for the “goat on roof” Old Country Market. Way more busy than I remember! but still entertaining. Since we couldn’t cross the median at the site, we had to park almost half a km from the market.
Yep …. the goats were eating the roof …….
… closer …….. ya, that’s Gerda – on the ground below
they really do call themselves …
We hit the road again around 1:00pm expecting to reach Tofino by 3:30, alas more construction delays and slow, winding roads (quite frequently under 50km). So we didn’t get in until 5:30!
Gerda’s sleeping now, trying to recover from almost driving off the road (she said the curves hypnotized her – and I thought only men were interested in curves!).
The motel is more like what we are use to. Small but comfortable. So far we could have brought two other people with us, since each room has two queen sized beds.
A short rest and then the search for food …… fabulous see-food (if fish aren’t available, anything we see will do). We ended up at the “Sea Shanty” Restaurant. Nice ambiance, great atmosphere and fabulous food! We had a great time …….
The sunset was stunning and lasted forever!
… so here’s what the restaurant looks like in sunshine from an ocean view.
Sorry Darcee, still no dogs …… will goats do?

……. day 2:
…. well Darcee you’re in luck all sorts of dogs ….
…… and regular ones ….
Also one fabulous long beach and 27º above.
Another rest and then dinner at the “Ice House – Oyster Bar”. Excellent food, great service – in fact the dessert was so rich we couldn’t finish it – a first for us!
During our wait we got to watch several fishermen bring in our meal off the dock (or maybe not since we didn’t have fish).
A great end to a busy, hot, long day!
Oh, and Darcee we found you another dog ….
unfortunately it’s black on black.
Tomorrow ……. Naniamo!
